This series is a collaborative celebration of outsiders, which uses the ‘freak show’ to satirise our strait-laced fashion-driven society.
Fashion photography is rarely allowed to be truly radical, and remains restricted by a pre-agreed set of rules. The freak show, by contrast, uses the unique poetics of the ambivalence between monstrosity and bliss, dream and nightmare.
Beautiful People became a useful metaphor for contemporary celebrity culture, revealing our fascination with fantastical and bizarre characters.
